The squishface that inspired Squishface

Excerpted from an interview with Squishface founder and English Bulldog Milo, appearing in Dogster magazine:

Q Good afternoon, Milo.

A I was told there would be treats.

Q Just be patient and sit. Good boy. Now then, what led you to invent Squishface?

A You’re familiar with the custom of butt-sniffing, right?

Q Among dogs, yes.

A It’s a flawed system. We’ve evolved to seek out the worst-smelling part of another dog. Problem is, sometimes that’s the face. That’s unacceptable.

Q Are you referring to dog breath?

A No, that’s a given. Wrinkly breeds like bulldogs, pugs, shar-peis are prone to dirt and bacteria accumulating in their folds. You can’t see it, but you sure can smell it. And it can get worse with infection.

Q I’m sorry to hear that.

A [shrugs] It’s the price of beauty. Bulldogs have been around for centuries, yet nobody bothered to come up with something to keep our glorious wrinkles clean and fresh. So I developed an exclusive paste with natural zinc oxide and soothing coconut oil. Applied regularly, it creates a water-repellent barrier so bacteria can’t hide.

Q Like a dog during a thunderstorm?

A Very funny. It worked so well I followed up with pre-packaged wipes to tackle the same problem in a different way.

Q Thank you for your time, Milo. Squishface Wrinkle Paste and Wipes sound like just the solution many dogs have been wanting. Excuse me, what are you doing?

A I told you it was a custom.

Wipe that smell right off your dog’s face!
