5 Tricks to Keep Your Hyper Dog Still When Applying Squishface Wrinkle Paste

Anyone who has a hyper dog knows how hard it can be to get your pup to settle down so you can apply Wrinkle Paste. Hyper dogs never want to sit still and they usually try to lick off any paste or ointment you apply to their skin. However, in order to get the maximum benefits of any cream or ointment, including Squishface Wrinkle Paste, it is important to apply it properly and allow the paste or ointment to stay in place after application so it can work.  This means you will have to find a way to keep your hyper dog still while you apply the paste.

Here are five tricks you can use to keep your hyper dog still and distracted when applying Squishface Wrinkle Paste.

1. Exercise Your Dog Beforehand

Keeping your pup active is a fantastic way to burn off extra energy. This is particularly useful when you need to apply Wrinkle Paste to your squishable dog friend. Take your pup on a long walk, run, or play a strenuous game of fetch before you plan to apply Wrinkle Paste to your wrinkly dog.

The exercise and activity will tire out your dog, so you’ll get less resistance when you sit your pup down to apply the Wrinkle Paste. If you do a really good job tiring out your dog, they might even lay down on the floor and take a nap as you apply the Wrinkle Paste to their abundant wrinkles.

2. Give Rewards and Treats

A lot of dogs respond well to food-based rewards. Work to get your dog into a sit position then reward them with a dog treat. Start applying the Wrinkle Paste and provide small treats throughout the application process as mini rewards for good, calm behavior.

If you’re worried about giving your pup too many treats during the application process, then split the treats in smaller bits before starting. Give a treat before applying the Wrinkle Paste, then begin applying the Wrinkle Paste. Continue rewarding your dog with treats in between applying the Wrinkle Paste, until you have applied it to all of the affected areas.

3. Use Toys as a Distraction

Another great option for keeping your hyper dog distracted while applying Wrinkle Paste is to use toys as a distraction. Pull out your pup’s favorite toy to distract your dog from the fact you are applying Wrinkle Paste. Since dogs like to use their mouths to explore and interact, when they feel you applying Wrinkle Paste to their skin they want to investigate by licking away the ointment. By creating a diversion with your dog's favorite toy, your dog will most likely be stuffing their toy in their mouth, rather than trying to squirm around and lick at the Wrinkle Paste

4. Apply Wrinkle Paste at Night

If you are still having trouble keeping your dog still while applying Wrinkle Paste, then try putting it on when your pup will be winding down for bed anyway. About half an hour to 15 minutes before bedtime, sit down with your pup and apply the Wrinkle Paste. Your dog should already be tired and ready for bed so you’ll get less resistance when you apply the paste.

5. Create a Routine

Setting up a routine is another excellent way to get your pup to stay still. Once your pup begins to understand what you are doing when you sit down to apply Wrinkle Paste, they will know that nothing bad will happen and will be more calm during the application process.  Try to create a calm, happy routine when you apply Squishface Wrinkle Paste, so your dog associates the process with a positive time.

This is especially true if the action of applying Wrinkle Paste is paired with rewarding your dog with treats or toys. The positive reward associated with applying Wrinkle Paste will make your dog eager to comply whenever it’s time to soothe irritated skin.

The Importance of Applying Wrinkle Paste to Your Dog

Owners of wrinkly dogs know how important it is to keep those wrinkles clean and dry in order to keep their dogs looking and feeling their best.  Dogs with a lot of wrinkles such as English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, and others are susceptible to irritation and infection between their skin folds. Moisture and debris can easily get trapped in the creases resulting in bacteria and fungus growth.  Squishface Wrinkle Paste forms a water-repellent barrier on your dog’s skin which keeps moisture, yeast, fungus and other nasty bacteria at bay.  Prevention goes a long way, and Squishface Wrinkle Paste can help to prevent skin issues from forming or reoccurring for your pup when applied correctly.

One of the best things about Squishface Wrinkle Paste is it has multiple benefits and uses.  While it is perfect for wrinkly dogs and all their skin issues, our specially formulated Wrinkle Paste is also ideal for addressing dog tear stains and dog tail pockets which are issues with many different types of dogs.

Active pups are a lot of fun but they can be a handful. Knowing this, you have to discover the best way to handle that energy when you need your dog to be calm so you can apply Wrinkle Paste. If one of the tricks above doesn’t work for you, try combining two of the ideas.
