Meet Our May Dog of the Month! 🐶

WHAT'S YOUR DOG'S NAME AND HOW DID YOU CHOOSE IT?

His name is Vinny! We named him after one of our favorite movies, My Cousin Vinny.

WHAT BREED IS YOUR DOG?

Vinny is a 3 year old French Bulldog.

WHAT SQUISHFACE PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?

We use Squishface Wrinkle Wipes, Wrinkle Paste, and most used of all, the Nose Balm! 

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR DOG?

We got him through an Oklahoma local bulldog rescue called Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue.

WHAT'S THE WEIRDEST THING YOUR DOG DOES?

Never giving people personal space… he’s a lover boy so if he’s laying down, he’s on a lap! Also he likes to “pet” you back when you stop the pets. He also will fall asleep with small toys in his mouth, snoring away! He just loves toys and playing so much.

WHAT'S YOUR DOG'S FAVORITE TREAT OR SNACK?

His favorite treat is cheese! 

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TRICK THAT YOUR DOG DOES?

It's not really a trick but he’s very smart and has trigger words/phrases as follows, “Do you want to go (to Solo’s, in the car, etc.),” “Are you hungry?” “Treat?” and “The Poods” (this is a nickname for our friend’s two standard poodles that are his BEST friends), to name a few. Say any of these and you’ll get butt wiggles and happy dances for days! Also he brings a toy to us every time we get home and proudly will not let you snatch it from him. 

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU FAILED AT TRAINING/COULD NOT TRAIN YOUR DOG TO DO?

We have failed to teach him that in order to play fetch, he has to give the toy back upon bringing it to you. He always wants to make it into a game, but he gets close enough to get pets of course.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO WITH YOUR DOG?

We love to go to our local dog park and pub called Solo’s! We are annual members and he loves it there. 

TELL US A FUNNY STORY ABOUT YOUR DOG.

My husband, Jesse, was laying on the couch watching a movie and Vinny was laying next to him. Jesse got up to go to the bathroom after the movie was over and then came back to let Vinny out to go potty. My husband watched as Vinny went into the backyard and started kicking up grass as he does after doing his business every time. They came back in and Jesse found his shoe full of dog pee… Jesse realized Vinny never squatted to go potty while outside. He had PRETENDED to go to the bathroom outside, hoping his dad wouldn’t find that he’d peed in his shoe while he went to the bathroom after the movie. Vinny was trying to get back at dad for leaving him for 30 seconds and then had to cover up his crimes! He is definitely smart. 

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT MOST DOG OWNERS COULD DO BETTER WITH THEIR DOGS?

I think more dog owners can better prioritize exercise and proper socialization.

WHAT'S ONE SPECIAL THING ABOUT YOUR DOG THAT YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH READERS? 

We had “foster failed” with a Frenchie before Vinny and his name was Baguette. Prior to Baguette, we had never had small dogs but he made us fall in love with Frenchies! Baguette came from the humane society and we never knew his true age. We found out after 4 months of falling in love with him that he had kidney failure and not much time left. We provided hospice care for Baguette and had him for a total of 6 months before he passed. One day we were looking through a local magazine and found an ad for Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue. We went to a “meet and greet” with the available bulldogs when we were ready to adopt again after losing Baguette, and when Vinny walked in, it was truly love at first sight! I was obsessed, and told my husband that he was coming home with us. And the rest is history! We’ve had Vinny since November 2023.
